Tips for future filings
Complete Form 720 PDF:
- List the amount for each type of tax reported, using the proper IRS Number (IRS No.) assigned for each type of excise tax. The IRS No. is listed on the right and left columns of the form.
- Review Publication 510, Excise Taxes (Including Fuel Tax Credits and Refunds).
What to do next
- Write down the date on the letter today.
- Look the number up on irs.gov yourself. Don’t trust a link or phone number from anyone else.
- If it says you owe money or proposes changes to your return, take it to a licensed CPA, EA or tax attorney before that date.
